Juaben (Ash), July 27, GNA – The Ghana Anti-Corruption Coalition (GACC), through its Local Accountability Network (LANet), has taken its anti-corruption education campaign to the Juaben Senior High School (SHS) as part of activities marking this year’s African Union Anti-Corruption Day.
The engagement brought together 1,580 students, comprising 702 boys and 878 girls, as well as their teachers, under the theme: “Scaling Up the Promotion of Integrity and Anti-Corruption Action Across Africa.”
The programme also formed part of activities marking the 25th anniversary of the GACC in promoting integrity, accountability and transparency in Ghana.
Ms Eva Asare, a representative of Rights and Responsibilities Initiatives Ghana (RRIG), which chairs the Local Accountability Networks (LANets) in the Ashanti Region, reminded the students that promoting integrity and combating corruption was a shared responsibility requiring the commitment of all stakeholders.
She said the GACC reached more than 23,000 students across 40 districts in all 16 regions of Ghana last year and disclosed plans to expand the programme to 85 districts nationwide to create more opportunities for young people to learn, engage and become champions of integrity.
Ms Asare urged the students to embrace the “3Rs” of the fight against corruption: Resist, Reject and Report.
Delivering a presentation on “Youth as the Vanguard of Integrity: Resist, Reject and Report Corruption for Africa’s Transformation,” she explained the concept of integrity and its importance in national development.
She also educated the students on whistleblowing, highlighting its importance, the appropriate channels for reporting corruption, and the critical role young people could play in combating the menace.
The programme featured an open forum during which students shared personal experiences and corruption-related stories to deepen their understanding of integrity and accountability.
A 17-year-old female student recalled that a key lesson she learnt during a previous anti-corruption education session in November 2025 was that once young people embraced the values of integrity, those values stayed with them throughout life.
She said the lesson had inspired her to consciously associate with positive-minded peers who rejected bribery, corruption, and nepotism.
