Kumasi July 23, GNA – The Ghana Anti-Corruption Coalition (GACC) has marked the 2026 African Anti-Corruption Day with a sensitisation exercise for pupils of Oforikrom M/A Primary and Junior High School (JHS) in Kumasi, as part of nationwide activities to promote integrity among young people.
The engagement, held on the theme “Scaling Up the Promotion of Integrity and Anti-Corruption Action Across Africa,” brought together 734 pupils, comprising 368 boys and 366 girls, and coincided with celebrations marking the GACC’s 25th anniversary of championing good governance in Ghana.
Mrs. Beauty Emefa Narteh, The Executive Secretary of GACC, in a speech read on her behalf, reminded the pupils that promoting integrity and combating corruption was a shared duty involving every stakeholder, including students.
She highlighted GACC’s 25-year journey in advancing integrity, accountability and transparency in the country, describing the milestone as a testament to the organisation’s sustained commitment to the fight against corruption at both the national and grassroots levels.
She disclosed that in the past year alone, GACC reached out to more than 23,000 students across 40 districts in all 16 regions of Ghana through its Local Accountability Networks (LANets).
The Executive Secretary announced plans to expand the programme further to 85 districts nationwide, a move she said would create more opportunities for young people to learn, engage and become champions of integrity in their schools and communities.
She implored the pupils to resist, reject and report corruption as a civic responsibility.
The facilitators took the pupils through a presentation on “Youth as the Vanguard of Integrity,” which explored the meaning and manifestations of corruption and why it mattered in everyday life.
The session examined whistleblowing, why it mattered, and where corruption could be reported.
The pupils shared personal stories and experiences related to corruption, deepening their understanding of the subject.
