Bohyen (Ash), July 26, GNA – Nana Antwi Boasiako II, Chief of Bohyen in the Ashanti Region, has appealed to the Government to establish a fire station in the community to enhance fire prevention and emergency response services and protect lives and property.
He said the absence of a fire station serving areas such as Bantama, Bohyen, Abrepo, Barekese, Mankranso, Adugyama, Offinso and surrounding communities remained a major challenge during fire emergencies.
Nana Boasiako II made the appeal at Bohyen during activities marking the celebration of his 25th anniversary as Chief of the area.
The week-long anniversary celebration featured a clean-up exercise, health walk, health screening, blood donation exercise, interdenominational church service, old-school street jam and cultural performances showcasing traditional drumming and dancing.
The Chief expressed gratitude to God for His protection and guidance throughout his reign and thanked the people of Bohyen for their cooperation and support over the past 25 years.
On other development needs of the area, Nana Boasiako II appealed to the Government to extend the services of the National Ambulance Service to the community to ensure timely responses to emergencies.
He also called for the construction of a community centre to accommodate funerals, social gatherings and other public events, explaining that such a facility would help prevent the obstruction of roads during community activities.
The Chief commended Mr Francis Asenso-Boakye, Member of Parliament for the Bantama Constituency, for his contribution to the development of Bohyen through effective collaboration with stakeholders.
He cited the construction of a police station, classroom block, community library, inner roads and an artificial astro turf, among other projects, as major interventions that had transformed the community.
Dr Nana Kwaku Duah, Chairman for the occasion, commended Nana Boasiako II for his exemplary leadership and dedication to the development of Bohyen over the past 25 years.
He pledged his support for the Chief’s development agenda and efforts to improve the welfare of residents.
As part of the anniversary celebrations, Nana Boasiako II commissioned a refurbished palace.
The event attracted government officials, members of the clergy, traditional authorities, international guests, business leaders, members of the Muslim community, Assembly Members and residents who gathered to honour the Chief.
