Patasi (Ash), July 24, GNA –The Consolidated Bank Ghana (CBG Ltd) has, as part of impacting the communities in which they operate, donated more than 3,000 pieces of sanitary towels to some selected schools in the Ashanti Region.

The beneficiary schools are the Patasi D/A JHS in the Amansie Central District, Sepaase M/A Basic School in Atwima Nwabiagya South Municipality and Donuaso M/A Basic School in the Ejisu Municipality.

Dr. the Naomi Kwetey, Managing Director, CBG Ltd, presenting the items to the schools at separate locations, said the items would help girls stay comfortably in the classroom during their menstruation periods.

She explained that most of the time, some girls tend to stay away from school during menstruation because their parents were not able to provide sanitary products for them, a situation which breeds truancy and school dropouts.

She said “everyone deserves an opportunity to be educated throughout the term, so girls having access to sanitary pads could chase their dreams and make meaningful impacts in society.”

The Managing Director noted that although some girls’ inability to access sanitary towels was a gap the Bank had realised, they were not secluded to the girl child, adding that, there were other educational opportunities which covered boys as well.

Dr Kwetey called on corporate institutions to assist in nurturing school children by providing educational assistance and mentorship programmes.

Madam Esther Nyame, the Headteacher of Patasi D/A JHS, applauded the Bank for the donation and used the opportunity to rally more support for needy school children.
