Kumasi, July 13, GNA – Mr Mohammed Jarah, Presiding Member (PM) of the Asokore-Mampong Municipal Assembly, has been elected secretary of the Asawase constituency of the NPP.
Mr Jarah polled 930 votes, defeating the incumbent, Mr Napoleon Norbert Banful, who secured 546 votes.
Mr Moro Mohammed, the incumbent constituency chairman retained his position after securing 823 votes to beat his main contender, Mr Noah Owusu, who had 650 votes.
Overall, 1,477 votes were cast in the ballot box, with one rejected ballot.
In the Women’s Organiser position, Mrs Janet Acheampomaa retained her position in a commanding victory, amassing 1,288 votes, against 188 of her opponents, Mrs Elizabeth Asare.
For the Nasara Coordinator, Mr Ibrahim Saeed, emerged victorious with 667 votes, while the other candidates, Mr Abdullah Salami Zerba and Mr Tijani Mustapha, garnered 335 and 472 votes respectively.
In the Organiser position, the incumbent, Mr Rashid Dauda, was narrowly defeated by Mr Kamal Mohammed by a single vote.
Mr Mohammed secured 666 votes, while Mr Dauda polled 665; the third candidate, Mr Prince Adjei Offei, received 142 votes.
A total of 1,477 delegates cast their ballots in the elections, which was generally, peaceful at the constituency.
