Akatsi South sets July 10 for municipality-wide clean-up exercise

Akatsi (V/R), July 7, GNA – The Akatsi South Municipal Assembly has scheduled a municipality-wide clean-up exercise for Friday, July 10, to mobilise residents to improve environmental sanitation and support the national sanitation campaign.

The exercise, which will take place from 0600 hours to 1000 hours, is expected to bring together residents, institutions, traders, transport operators, youth groups, religious organisations and other stakeholders to clean communities, desilt drains and clear refuse.

Mr Daniel Dagba, the Akatsi South Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), told the Ghana News Agency that the exercise was originally scheduled for Friday, July 3, but was postponed because it coincided with the Republic Day holiday.

He explained that many people had planned to travel to visit relatives and attend other engagements during the holiday, making it difficult to secure the level of participation needed for a successful exercise.

Mr Dagba said the Assembly therefore rescheduled the exercise to July 10 to enable more residents to participate.

He appealed to chiefs, assembly members, unit committee members, market women, transport operators, religious bodies, youth groups and residents to actively support the exercise.

Mr Dagba said maintaining a clean environment was a shared responsibility and urged residents to clean homes, markets, schools, offices, streets, drains and other public places to help prevent disease outbreaks and flooding.

He expressed confidence that the exercise would receive widespread public support and contribute to creating a cleaner, healthier, and safer municipality.
