5.5-magnitude quake hits Tonga Islands — GFZ

BEIJING, July 2, (Xinhua/GNA) — An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.5 jolted Tonga Islands at 2113 GMT on Wednesday, the GFZ German Research Centre for Geosciences said.

The epicenter, with a depth of 274.8 km, was initially determined to be at 16.89 degrees south latitude and 174.84 degrees west longitude.
