Asawinso (W/R), June 2, GNA – Mr Kofi Afful Benteh, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Sefwi-Wiawso, together with Mr Dominic Gyasi, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), has cut the sod for the construction of a 24-hour Economy Market at Sefwi-Asawinso in the Western North Region.

The project forms part of President John Dramani Mahama’s vision to promote economic transformation through the implementation of the 24-hour economy policy.

The facility will include a police post, clinic, day care centre, and a Women Development Bank, among other amenities, to support traders and the public.

Mr Benteh, speaking at the ceremony, encouraged residents to support the project in the interest of socio-economic development.

He commended traders in the area for their dedication and expressed optimism that the project, when completed, would boost business activities and improve the local economy.

Mr Gyasi described the initiative as a landmark development for the municipality and expressed gratitude to the President for extending the project to the area.

He noted that the market would provide traders with a modern and conducive environment to conduct business, thereby enhancing economic growth in the municipality.

Nana Ama Kyinyi II, the Queenmother of Asawinso, lauded the government and the Municipal Assembly for the initiative.

She appealed to the contractor to engage local youth in the execution of the project.

She further advised the youth to be disciplined and hardworking, urging them to avoid behaviours that could hinder the successful completion of the project.

Some traders who spoke to the Ghana News Agency commended the government for the project and appealed to the contractor to complete it on schedule.
