Wenchimanhene excited with works on €31million Wenchi Water Project

Wenchi, (Bono), June 26, GNA-Osagyefo Ampem Anye Amoampong Tabrako III, the Paramount Chief of the Wenchi Traditional Area has inspected the progress of work on the €31 million Wenchi Water Supply Project. 


During the visit to the project site at Wenchi, the paramount chief said he was highly excited about the level of work and commended the government for the project. 


In an interview with the media, Osagyefo Tabrako III urged the contractors to speed up the completion of the project to address the water challenges in the municipality. 


His visit took him to the intake point, treatment facilities and plants, and overhead tanks of the project, 
Osagyefo Tabrako III said the visit was to afford him the opportunity to assess the stages of the project execution. 


On completion, the project will extend potable water to parts of Wenchi, Nkonsia, Koase, Asuano, Beposo, Yooyoano, Droboso, Low-cost, Gensoso, Awisa, Wurompo, Akete, Nwoase and Tainso. 

The project forms part of the government’s broader agenda to ensure the availability of potable water to urban and peri-urban communities. 

Located near the Tain River, the project is expected to produce 10,700 cubic meters per day and serve about 10 water crisis communities in Wenchi Municipality and some parts of the Tain District. 

Works on the project, which is about 97 percent completed started in 2020 and targeted at resolving the long-standing Wenchi water crisis.
