Wenchi, (Bono), June 3, GNA – A downpour has caused havoc at the Wenchi ‘C’ Methodist Basic School in the Bono Region and ripped roofing of some classroom blocks.

The Ghana News Agency (GNA) learnt that the rains, which accompanied severe storm and thunder-lights hit parts of the Municipality on Tuesday evening June 2, 2026.

During a visit, Mr Andrews Twum, the Headmaster of the school told the GNA in an interview at Wenchi that the school had combined the classes to create room for the 168 school children contained in the five affected classrooms to learn.

He said that seven computers and accessories, a flat screen coloured television as well as some reading books and learning and teaching materials were also destroyed by floodwaters.

Mr Twum said the school had informed the Wenchi Municipal Directorate of Education about the incident, saying that they were working closely with stakeholders to find an interim solution.

He called for urgent support towards the re-roofing of the affected classroom blocks, worrying that the situation had affected effective teaching and learning due to the classroom congestion.
