Senegalese President in Ghana for Next Step Conference

Accra, June 17, GNA – President Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar Faye of Senegal on Wednesday evening arrived in Accra for the High-Level Consultative Conference on the Next Steps to the Landmark United Nations Resolution on the Trafficking of Enslaved Africans. 

The Conference slated from the 17th to the 19th of June 2026, seeks to advance international efforts toward historical recognition, reparatory justice, accountability, and restitution for the enduring consequences of slavery and colonial exploitation. 

President Faye was met on arrival at the Jubilee Lounge of the Accra International Airport by Mr Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the Minister for Foreign Affairs. 

The Senegalese President is among Africa Heads of States are in Accra at the invitation of their host President John Dramani Mahama to participate in the High-Level Consultative Conference on the Next Steps to the Landmark United Nations Resolution on the Trafficking of Enslaved Africans.
