Moscow, June 22 (RIA Novosti/GNA) – Russia has reaffirmed its principled position on the need to significantly expand the role of African countries in the UN Security Council (UNSC), Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Friday.
“We reaffirmed our principled position on the need to significantly enhance Africa’s role in global governance mechanisms, including in the United Nations and its Security Council,” Lavrod told a briefing after a meeting with Madagascar Foreign Minister Alice N’Diaye.
Russia also commends the resolution adopted by the UN General Assembly last year that established December 14 as the International Day Against Colonialism in All Its Forms and Manifestations, Lavrov added.
