Accra, June 9, GNA – Mr Stanley Purl Menzo, former Netherlands international, is eyeing a successful stint with Asante Kotoko after being appointed Director of Football.

According to a club statement, the move forms part of a long-term strategy to strengthen its technical leadership, modernise football operations and restore the Porcupine Warriors to the summit of domestic and continental football.

Mr Menzo said he was honoured to take up the role at one of Ghana’s most successful clubs, citing the ambition of the leadership and the passion of its supporters as key factors in his decision.

“I look forward to working with the technical team, the players and the entire Kotoko family to build something special and to compete for the trophies this club deserves,” he said.

The 62-year-old Dutchman arrives with extensive experience as both a player and coach.

He spent a decade at Ajax, making more than 300 appearances and winning nine major titles, and represented the Netherlands at the 1990 FIFA World Cup and at European Championship.

Mr James Osei Brown, Kotoko’s Executive Chairman, said Menzo’s appointment was central to the club’s rebuilding plans, highlighting his global experience and leadership credentials.

“Stanley Menzo brings a rare combination of elite playing experience, proven leadership and genuine global perspective,” Osei Brown said, adding that the club believes his expertise will help build a sustainable, winning structure.
