KUWAIT CITY, June 1 (Xinhua/GNA) — Kuwait on Monday, strongly condemned what it described as repeated Iranian attacks targeting its territory, calling them a “dangerous escalation” and a direct threat to the country’s security and stability.
In a statement posted on the social media platform X, Kuwait’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the alleged attacks, constituted a “direct assault” on the country’s security and represented a “blatant violation” of international law.
The ministry said the incidents posed a “grave threat” to civilians and critical infrastructure, stressing that such actions undermine Kuwait’s sovereignty and security.
It warned that the continuation and recurrence of the attacks, would undermine efforts to reduce regional tensions and could further threaten security and stability across the Gulf.
The statement also affirmed Kuwait’s “full right to take all necessary measures” to preserve its security and defend its territory, holding Iran fully responsible for the alleged attacks.
Earlier in the day, the Kuwaiti army said that its air defense systems had intercepted “hostile” missiles and drones, following a similar report on Thursday.
According to local media reports, air raid sirens sounded three times across Kuwait starting at 6:00 a.m. local time (0300 GMT) Monday.
