Kiev, June 8, (dpa/GNA) – At least three civilians have been killed in Ukraine, as a result of Russian attacks.
Two people were killed in a drone strike on the south-eastern Ukrainian city of Zaporizhzhya, the military governor, Ivan Fedorov, reported on Telegram on Monday. A further 23 people were reportedly injured in the attack, and another man was injured in a separate attack.
The industrial city is located around 25 kilometres from the front line. In the Sumy region of north-eastern Ukraine, a man died in a Russian attack involving mortars and drones. He had been travelling by bicycle in the village of Seredyna-Buda, Governor Oleh Hryhorov said. The village is situated directly on the border with Russia.
The authorities in eastern Ukraine reported that at least seven people were also injured there. Three bombs were dropped on the city of Sloviansk, according to Vadim Filashkin, the military governor of the Donetsk region. There was damage to administrative buildings, a medical facility and several residential buildings, he said.
Sloviansk is only about 18 kilometres from the front line. With Western support, Ukraine has been fighting off a full-scale Russian invasion for more than four years.
