Adaklu Kodzobi (V/R), June 2, GNA – The chiefs and people of Adaklu Kodzobi in the Adaklu District have held their fifth town hall meeting to review development activities and plan ahead.
Togbe Dzegblade IV, Chief of the community, told the Ghana News Agency that the meeting aimed to assess development performance for the previous month and outline activities for the coming period.
He said the forum also provided an opportunity for residents to raise genuine concerns and collectively find solutions to them.
Togbe Dzegblade disclosed that the Government was constructing a three-unit classroom block with a staff common room and headteacher’s office, as well as a six-unit teachers’ bungalow for the community.
He noted that the project, funded by the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund), was the first intervention of the government for the school and expressed hope that it would be completed on schedule to ease accommodation challenges faced by teachers.
The Chief further indicated that a one-storey community centre was about 95 per cent complete, adding that offices would be allocated to the Environmental Health Unit and the Town Development Committee upon completion.
He said work on a three-in-one ultra-modern ICT laboratory and library complex for the school was about 50 per cent complete.
According to him, the project was being financed by the family of Mr Eric Earl, a former Chief Education Officer in the United Kingdom, Ghana School Aid, and himself.
Togbe Dzegblade noted that the community’s basic school required fencing to enhance safety and protect school property, and appealed to past pupils and residents to contribute funds or materials towards the project.
He announced that a new 21-member Town Development Committee would be constituted at the end of the year to oversee development activities.
The Committee, he said, would operate through sub-committees including finance, audit, electrification, health, education, welfare, sanitation, and projects.
The Chief also disclosed that a development levy amnesty had been granted to both residents and non-residents this year, except for festival and other special levies.
He commended residents for their participation in the National Sanitation Day exercises and urged them to sustain the communal spirit to keep the area clean and safe.
Togbe Dzegblade cautioned individuals engaging in anti-social activities on the school premises at night to desist, warning that offenders would face sanctions to serve as a deterrent.
He donated GHS10,000 to support community development efforts.
