Abesim, (Bono), June 24, GNA – Dr Derick Kumi Frimpong, the Medical Superintendent at the Abesim Health Center in the Sunyani Municipality has appealed for medical devices, and other essential items for the facility to deliver a safer and hygienic medical service to the people.
He said the center required the modern medical devices and items urgently to position it well to dispense quality healthcare services delivery to the growing population.
Dr Frimpong made the appeal in a letter of request, copied to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Sunyani.
He said facility required ophthalmoscope, Perkins’s tonometer, slit lamps, trial lenses, OCT imaging and optical coherence tomography.
Others include VFT imaging machine, ESR apparatus, hot air oven, hematological analyzer, weighing scale for newborn babies, obstetric lamp delivery room, hand washing sink, rechargeable lamps and fetal doppler.
Dr Frimpong said the facility also required digital thermometer, pulse oximeter, hemoglobin meter, beds and mattresses, medicated trolley, BP apparatus, hanging scales, furniture, standing and bathroom scales, generator, dustbins and refrigerator for cold chain drugs.
He expressed concern about the poor lighting system and called for the need to set up streetlights around the facility.
Dr Frimpong called for support towards the renovation of the facility washrooms as well, saying that the present condition of the washroom facilities posed challenges to hygiene, sanitation and clients’ comfort.
He urged support from especially wealthy Abesim natives, home and abroad, faith-based organisations as well as philanthropic individuals and entities.
“Providing these items and supporting the renovation of the facility will greatly enhance our capacity to deliver safe, hygiene, and effective healthcare care services to the community,” Dr Frimpong appealed.
