Accra, June 14, 2026 — The 2026 Apostolic Visitation of the Assemblies of God, Ghana, has commenced with the Greater Accra East Region hosting the opening session at the Cedar Mountain Chapel at East Legon.
The event brought together pastors and their spouses, retired ministers and their partners, as well as widows of pastors, in a gathering marked by prayer, exhortation, and acts of appreciation.
The General Superintendent of the Assemblies of God, Ghana, Rev. Stephen Wengam, led participants through an intensive three-and-a-half-hour prayer session.
The prayers focused on thanksgiving, repentance, rededication, and intercession for the upcoming Assemblies of God World Congress scheduled to take place in Accra in October this year.
Additional prayers were offered for the needs of the Church, individual concerns, and the nation.
Rev. Andrews Nelson Awintia, the Greater Accra East Regional Superintendent and host of the event, expressed gratitude to Rev. Wengam and his wife, Lady Mrs Monica Wengam, for their leadership and commitment to the Church.
Lady Mrs Wengam, in her remarks, commended pastors for their dedication to ministry.
She also presented cloth and cash donations to widows, retired ministers, and their spouses. Pastors’ wives received cloth, while pastors were also presented with assorted gifts.
Delivering an exhortation, Rev. Wengam urged pastors to remain diligent in their calling. He cautioned against negative attitudes such as grumbling and anxiety, noting that such tendencies could undermine peace and hinder effective ministry.
He encouraged the ministers to remain focused, faithful, and committed to their spiritual responsibilities.
As part of the programme, Rev. Wengam led ministers and their spouses in the renewal of their marriage vows.
He emphasised the importance of upholding the sanctity of marriage and remaining faithful to their commitments until death, in accordance with biblical teachings.
The Apostolic Visitation is an important exercise in the Assemblies of God calendar, providing an opportunity for spiritual renewal, fellowship, and strengthening of leadership within the Church.
