Timonde, (UE), May 21, GNA – More than eighty houses had their roofs ripped off in the Timonde and surrounding communities in the Bawku West district following a severe windstorm causing havoc to other shops and uprooting some trees.
The most affected communities included Goriga, Timonguri, Natinga, and Biringu where the affected people have been displaced.
Though the Bawku West District Chief Executive (DCE), Mr James Ayamwego and the District NADMO Coordinator have paid a visit to the affected communities and sympathised with the families, no interventions have been sent to them yet.
However, Mr Francis Ayaaba Apam, Assembly member for the Timonde Electoral Area who described the situation as challenging said there have been internal arrangements with family members to accommodate those displaced within the households to temporarily ease their situation until help arrived.
He appealed to the authorities especially NADMO to come to the aid of the affected communities not only with blankets and plastic containers but also consider their current situation and the emotional implications on those who have lost their houses leading to displacement.
He also appealed to all, especially family members living outside the community, to extend help to the affected persons.
