Wenchi, (Bono), May 18, GNA-The Wenchi Municipal Office of the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) exceeded its 2025 membership registration target, achieving over 100 percent coverage.
In an interview with the media at Wenchi, Madam Linda Asuo, the Assistant Public Relations Officer of the Scheme said the scheme registered 135,447 people, representing 105 percent of the 128,970 total registering targets for 2025.
In a breakdown, she said the membership comprised 14,293 children under five year, 22,278 informal, 15,380 dependent, 51,509 indigent, 1,518 pregnant women, and 2,759 aged.
Mad Asuo said the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) contributors were 3,092 persons and SSNIT Pensioners, 538.
Despite the achievement, she advised those who were yet to register to do so, saying that the NHIS offered an opportunity for the people to access quality healthcare delivery services.
Mad Asuo commended the personnel of the scheme for their hard work and expressed the hope that they would do more to register most of the people to benefit from the NHIS.
