Tumu (UWR), May 2 (GNA) — The Sissala East Municipal Assembly has procured ten motorcycles through its internally generated funds to support the operations of selected departments and area councils within the municipality.
The motorcycles, comprising TVS and Aloba brands, were distributed to key institutions, including the National Youth Authority, the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice, and the Tumu Urban Council.
Other beneficiaries included the Welembelle Urban Council, the Tumu Paramountcy, and the Environmental Health Office, which received five motorcycles to support its work across various urban council outposts.
At a brief handing-over ceremony, the Municipal Chief Executive, Adamu Yakubu, urged beneficiary departments to use the motorcycles effectively to enhance service delivery, particularly in hard-to-reach communities.
He emphasized the importance of proper maintenance to ensure longevity and disclosed that the total cost of procurement was GH¢150,000.00, funded through locally generated revenue.
Mr Yakubu further called on the Environmental Health team to utilize the motorcycles to improve sanitation across the municipality.
He reassured residents that their tax contributions would continue to be invested in projects that benefit the entire municipality.
