Accra, May 14, GNA – The Ghana Education Service (GES) has assured all qualified Basic Education Certificate Examination candidates of placement in Senior High and Technical Schools nationwide.
The Service said adequate preparations had been made to accommodate all qualified students for the 2026 academic year.
A statement signed by Mr Daniel Fenyi, Head of Public Relations at the GES, said: “We wish to indicate that all qualified candidates will be placed in schools.
“Every effort has been made to ensure that each student has access to senior high/ technical education,” it said.
The statement followed media reports claiming that about 72,000 students could miss out on placement.
The GES said the reports were inaccurate and did not reflect the situation on the ground.
“The report circulating in section of the media suggesting that about 72, 000students risk not being placed is speculative and does not reflect the reality.
“We, therefore, urge the public disregard it,” it said.
The Service said arrangements had been completed to receive first-year students into Senior High and Technical Schools across the country from September 18, 2026.
“Management assures all graduates that comprehensive preparation and arrangement have been made to receive all freshers into Senior High/Technical schools across the country on 18th September, 2026,” the statement said.
The GES also assured parents and other stakeholders that efforts to phase out the double-track system would not affect access to secondary education.
“It will rather improve the quality of teaching and learning while maintaining full access for all students.”
The statement reaffirmed the Service’s commitment to providing equitable, inclusive and quality education for every Ghanaian child and appealed to stakeholders to support the effort.
