Accra, May 23, GNA – Ghana’s fundraising campaign for the Black Stars’ participation in the 2026 FIFA World Cup in June received a fresh boost after state institutions and corporate entities pledged additional funds.

Mr. Thomas Nyarko Ampem, the Deputy Finance Minister, said the Bank of Ghana had contributed GH¢5 million, while the Ghana Revenue Authority transferred US$300,000 into the committee’s dollar account.

Timeline and Innovation Company Limited also added another GH¢1 million to its earlier contribution, bringing its total support to GH¢2 million, while SIC Insurance Company Limited joined the campaign with GH¢1 million.

“We have about two weeks to finish the fundraising activities, and the funds raised will later be handed over to the Sports Ministry for utilisation,” he added.

He noted that the committee had opened cedi, dollar, euro, and pound sterling accounts at the central bank to facilitate contributions in multiple currencies.

Mr. Solomon Twum Barimah, Managing Director of SIC Insurance, said the insurer’s support reflected its commitment to national development and football.

“It is only proper and good that we come in to support them so that they can go and make Ghana proud,” he said.

He said the company was preparing additional life insurance packages for the team.
