By Emmanuel Nyatsikor

Adaklu Waya (V/R), May 13, GNA – Mr Jerry Yao Ameko, the Adaklu District Chief Executive (DCE), on Tuesday presented a motorbike to the District Department of Agriculture to support its operations.

The motorbike, valued at GH¢13,000, was procured from the DCE’s personal resources in response to a request by the Department for logistics to enhance its work.

Presenting the keys at a brief ceremony at Adaklu Waya, Mr Ameko underscored the importance of agriculture to national development, describing the sector as a key driver of economic growth.

“Agriculture is more than just food production; it is the engine of growth, a crucial driver of economic development,” he noted.

He noted that a vibrant agricultural sector creates employment, increases income, and promotes rural development.

Mr Ameko urged officials of the Department to intensify efforts in educating farmers on modern farming practices to improve productivity and ensure food security.

He expressed optimism that the motorbike would enhance the Department’s mobility and enable effective delivery of extension services to farmers across the district.

Madam Eugenia Nanka-Bruce, the Adaklu District Director of the Department of Agriculture, expressed appreciation to the DCE for the gesture.

She said the donation was timely, as it coincided with the peak of the major farming season.

“This is the period when we need to visit farmers frequently, and the motorbike will greatly facilitate our work,” she noted.

Madam Nanka-Bruce assured that the motorbike would be put to good use and properly maintained to ensure durability.
