BAGHDAD, April 28 (Xinhua/GNA) — An unidentified drone was intercepted and destroyed on Tuesday evening by the defense system of the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad, a security source said.
The source from the Iraqi Interior Ministry told Xinhua, that the embassy detected the drone and activated its C-RAM defense system, shooting down the drone in the air.
No casualties or material damage were reported following the interception.
It marks the first attack on the U.S. Embassy since a temporary ceasefire agreement was reached between the United States and Iran on April 8.The embassy has frequently been the target of drone and rocket strikes since the outbreak of hostilities involving Israel and the U.S. against Iran on Feb. 28
