Yamfo (Ahafo), April 2, GNA – Traders and market women have commended Dr Gideon Boako, Member of Parliament (MP) for the Tano North Constituency, for the facelift of the Yamfo everyday market in the Ahafo Region.
The traders in the mining town, home to Newmont Ghana Gold Limited, gave the commendation when the MP inspected progress of work on the construction of sheds, stores, and other facilities at the market.
According to them, the deplorable condition of the market had slowed down trading activities and compromised security, contributing to petty thefts.
They noted that completion of the sheds and stores would not only improve security but also stimulate rapid socio-economic growth and development.
Dr Boako later told the media that he was satisfied with the progress of work, indicating that the project comprised 100 market stalls, washrooms, and lighting facilities, and was expected to be completed within four months.
He said some existing market structures were being rehabilitated and commended the contractors for the quality of work, urging them to expedite completion.
Mr Joseph Adu Appau, the site contractor, said the project included a biodigester to manage liquid waste and pledged to complete and hand it over for use by June this year.
