Akuapem‑Akropong (E/R), April 06, GNA – Residents of Okuapeman received free medical screenings during the Easter celebrations, as civil society groups and corporate partners took healthcare services directly to the community.

The outreach, organised by Team CSR Ghana in partnership with the Oseadeeyo Kwasi Akuffo Foundation (OKWAF), coincided with the fourth Annual Easter Fair and was supported by BOORIS Automotive and Safety Solutions, Dr Arnold and the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA).

Beneficiaries underwent free checks for blood pressure, blood sugar, pulse, weight and eye health at the forecourt of the Akropong Chief’s Palace.

The exercise also provided free registration and renewal of National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) cards.

Mr Jonathan Akuamoah, the Founder and Chief Executive of Team CSR Ghana, told the Ghana News Agency that community‑based health screening was critical to achieving Universal Health Coverage.

He said shifting healthcare delivery from hospitals to community settings helped reduce inequalities and improve outcomes.

Mr Akuamoah added that Team CSR Ghana would continue supporting corporate organisations to fulfil their social responsibility commitments.

Speaking on behalf of OKWAF, Nana Kwame Donkor Kissiedu II, the Akrahene of Akuapem, commended the collaboration and said the fair formed part of activities leading to the 200th anniversary of the Odwira Festival.

He cautioned the youth against drug abuse, warning that unprescribed medication could alter brain function and lead to addiction.

Nana Kissiedu urged residents to seek professional medical advice before taking any drugs.

Representing the Eastern Regional Director of the Ghana Tourism Authority, Ms Francisca Seli Jiagge, an Assistant Officer for Standards and Quality Assurance, highlighted the link between health, tourism and economic growth.

She said integrating health services into festive events ensured safer experiences for both residents and visitors.

“Our campaign, ‘See Ghana, Eat Ghana, Wear Ghana, Feel Ghana,’ can only succeed if our people are healthy enough to tell Ghana’s story,” she said.

The fair also featured a children’s session with music and food.
