Moscow, April 29, (dpa/GNA) – At least eight people have died in a major fire at an apartment building, which still under construction in the Russian capital, Moscow, on Tuesday.
Thirteen people were injured, the state news agency TASS reported, citing civil defence authorities.
The death toll could rise further. It was reported that up to 200 people may have been inside the building at the time. A total of 31 people were rescued.
The fire reportedly engulfed nearly every floor of the high-rise. The central section of the building burned completely before a large contingent of firefighters managed to contain the flames.
The prosecutor’s office has launched an investigation into violations of fire safety regulations.
