Kikam (W/R), April 29, GNA – Mr Paul Kodwo Kwaw, Assembly Member for the Kikam Electoral Area, has declared his intention to contest the Ellembelle Constituency Secretary position of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the 2026–2030 term.
The declaration follows the opening of nominations by the NDC for its internal constituency elections, scheduled to run from May 2 to June 16, 2026.
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency at Kikam, Mr Kwaw expressed confidence in his ability to secure the support of party delegates at the grassroots level.
“With decades of vast experience in party politics, I am well grounded to steer the party in a new direction that will culminate in victory in December 2028,” he said.
He noted that his leadership experience would enable him to work effectively with other constituency executives to inject fresh energy and commitment into party activities and help sustain the NDC in government beyond 2028.
Mr Kwaw, who also represents Kikam/Asemko on the Ellembelle District Assembly, stated that under his leadership, the NDC won all polling stations in his electoral area in both the Presidential and Parliamentary Elections for the first time since 1992.
He added that he had championed several development initiatives in the area and played a leading role in combating illegal mining activities, which threatened the River Ajomosu, the community’s sole source of potable water.
Mr Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, Member of Parliament for Ellembelle, once described Mr Kwaw as “the most hardworking of all the Assembly Members in Ellembelle” during the donation of 1,000 pieces of furniture to Kikam Technical Institute (KIMTECH).
Mr Kwaw has extensive professional experience in banking, administration, management and audit, both in Ghana and abroad.
His political background includes serving as a two-term NDC Branch Chairman, two-term Assembly Member, five-term Polling Agent for Presidential and Parliamentary Elections, Chairman and Secretary of the NDC Caucus of Assembly Members, and a candidate in the 2022 NDC Constituency Deputy Secretary race.
He has also served on several committees, including the Finance and Administration Committee, Agriculture Committee, Audit Committee, Board of Survey, Tender Committee, and the party’s Election Monitoring Team.
Mr Kwaw said his experience and commitment adequately prepared him to serve as Chief Scribe of the Ellembelle NDC Constituency.
