Nukunu Sports Academy receives GHS165,000 boost ahead of sub-middle league season

Dzodze (VR), April 17, GNA – Nukunu Sports Academy from Ketu North in the Volta Region has received a financial boost of GH¢165,000 from a philanthropist to support its campaign in the Volta Region’s Division Two Sub Middle League.

The donor, Mr Seth Dzamesi, Chief Executive Officer of Sethport Company Limited, presented GHS5,000 to the supporters’ union, GHS10,000 to the playing body, and cleared a GHS150,000 budget for the team’s participation in the competition.

Mr Dzamesi, in a statement, said the gesture was to support youth development through sports and commended the team’s efforts in nurturing talents in the Nukunu community.

“I came to visit my brother, Mr Eric Edem Agbana, and having seen the good work being done with the Academy, I decided to support football and cash to enhance their preparations,” he said.

Management of the Academy described the donation as timely and a major morale booster ahead of the competition.

Mr Agbana, who doubled as the Member of Parliament for Ketu North and President of the Academy, expressed gratitude to the donor for the support and assured that the team would work hard to justify the confidence reposed in them.

Mr Agbana revealed that the funds would be used to improve training, procurement of logistics, and support the development of players to enhance the team’s performance target.

The Academy secured first position in its Zone in the Volta Region Division Two League to qualify for the Sub Middle League.

The Academy is expected to leverage support to make a strong impact on the upcoming competition.
