Dambai (O/R), April 23, GNA – The Nkwanta North District Chief Executive (DCE), Dordoe Kudjoe Isaiah, has handed over 992 pieces of furniture to the District Directorate of Education for onward distribution to schools across the district.

The presentation was made at a brief ceremony held on Wednesday at the District Assembly premises.

The items comprised 130 hexagonal tables, 385 dual desks, 445 mono desks, and 32 sets of teachers’ tables and chairs, aimed at improving teaching and learning conditions in basic schools.

Mr Isaiah reaffirmed the government’s commitment to addressing infrastructure challenges in the education sector, noting that the provision of furniture formed part of efforts to create a conducive environment for effective teaching and learning, particularly in underserved communities.

He urged school authorities, teachers, and pupils to ensure proper maintenance of the items to guarantee their long-term use.

Receiving the items on behalf of the District Education Directorate, the District Coordinating Director, Samuel Gyamena, expressed appreciation to the District Assembly for the support.

He assured that the furniture would be distributed promptly to beneficiary schools and properly maintained to maximise its impact.

Mr Gyamena noted that the intervention would help reduce the furniture deficit in several schools, where some pupils are compelled to sit on the floor or share desks.

The ceremony was attended by the District Director of Education, headteachers from various schools, and students.
