Nkoranza, (Bono East) April 7, GNA-Residents of Nkoranza in the Bono East Region have lauded government socio-economic intervention programmes, urging the full implementation for the nation to derive the optimum benefits.
They specifically mentioned the Nkoko Nketenkete, Feed Ghana, National Apprenticeship (NAP) and the Women Development Bank, describing those economic intervention programmes as home-driven initiatives that would spur economic growth and development.
The residents gave the commendation in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in the sidelines of the coronation of Oheneba Kwame Baffoe IV and Nana Yaa Sarpomaa III, the Paramount Chief and Paramount Queen-mother of the Nkoranza Traditional Area at Nkoranza.
Mr Owusu Adjei, a livestock keeper noted that feed Ghana and the Nkoko Nketenkete initiatives of the government were laudable programmes that would make the farming and poultry industry more attractive for the youth.
He said many of the employed youth in the area had expressed their interest to engage in poultry and livestock production, urging the government to distribute more birds to motivate them.
Mr Adjei said the Nkoranza South Municipality and the Nkoranza North District had huge agriculture prospects, and urged the government to support the youth to engage in commercial farming, livestock and poultry production.
Madam Veronica Mensah, an apprentice fashion designer, also praised the government for the NAP, which had offered her the opportunity to undergo employable skills training, urging the government to ensure that many of the unemployed young women in the area also benefited from the programme.
For Cynthia Ofosua, a Senior High School graduate, the NAP would contribute significantly to addressing the high youth unemployment situation in the area, and commended the government for the programme.
In another interview, Mr Francis Owusu Antwi, the Bono East Regional Minister told the GNA that the government remained dedicated to address youth unemployment rate, improve infrastructural development and road networks in the region.
He said the government remained focused on helping to develop the potential of the youth, creating more job opportunities through the NAP, Nkoko Nketenkete and the Feed Ghana programmes, among others.
Mr Antwi advised the youth to take advantage of those programmes and to create decent jobs for themselves.
He also called on the people to support the government for the successful implementation of those economic intervention programmes to stimulate economic growth and development.
