Accra, April 1, GNA – GCB Bank PLC has won three awards at the fifth Ghana FinTech Awards, underscoring growing customer adoption of its digital banking platforms.
The Bank was honoured in the categories of Mobile Banking App of the Year, Best Commercial Bank with Digital Innovation, and FinTech Chief Technical Officer/Chief Information Officer of the Year, awarded to Mr. Patrick George Quantson, Chief Digital Officer.
In a statement issued in Accra, Mr Sadat Laminu, Head of Corporate Affairs, said the triple recognition highlighted GCB’s leadership in digital banking innovation and its commitment to delivering customer‑centric financial solutions that drive measurable impact across Ghana’s financial services sector.
The Bank’s mobile platform now serves more than one million active customers who use the application for transfers, bill payments, mobile money transactions, investments, and instant credit access. The platform’s success, the statement noted, is built on accessibility, speed, and trust.
Mr. Farihan Alhassan, Managing Director of GCB Bank PLC, said winning three awards in one night was a strong affirmation of the Bank’s digital‑first strategy and its team’s dedication to innovation.
He said that the Bank was proud to lead the industry in digital transformation that serves customers effectively.
Under Mr Quantson’s leadership, GCB has achieved significant milestones, including mobile‑led onboarding using the Ghana Card and facial biometrics, expansion of self‑service capabilities, and the launch of innovative products tailored to evolving customer needs.
Accepting the FinTech CTO/CIO of the Year award, Mr Quantson said the recognition was a testament to the collective efforts of the Bank’s team.
“These awards belong to our entire team, who work tirelessly to make digital banking fast, accessible and trustworthy,” he said, adding that the Bank’s focus remained on solving real problems for Ghanaians.
The recognition comes as GCB continues to invest in digital infrastructure, customer experience innovation and financial inclusion initiatives nationwide.
The Ghana FinTech Awards celebrate excellence and innovation in the financial technology sector, recognising institutions and individuals driving digital transformation and expanding access to financial services.
