Essikado (W/R), April 15, GNA – The Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly (STMA) has handed over a newly renovated office building, valued at GHS1,388,826, to the Essikado-Ketan Sub-Metropolitan leadership to enhance administrative work.
The facility, which was previously used as changing rooms, was in a deplorable state before the Assembly intervened to rehabilitate and upgrade it.
Mr Faustinus Faidoo, the Metropolitan Chief Executive of STMA, speaking at the commissioning ceremony, said the Assembly decided to renovate the structure, provide additional office spaces and install sanitary facilities to ensure a conducive working environment for staff.
He recounted his first visit to the facility upon assumption of office, describing the condition as disheartening.
“I was saddened because an office should be good enough to bring the best out of any worker,” he said.
Mr Faidoo commended the contractor for adhering to the terms of the contract and completing the project within the stipulated six-month period.
The Metropolitan Chief Executive said through the District Assemblies Common Fund, the Assembly had embarked on 21 development projects, out of which six had been completed.
“In the coming days, we envisage taking the media around to inspect the completed projects,” he added.
He urged staff and users of the facility to maintain the offices and surrounding environment to preserve the infrastructure for future generations.
