Effutu Security Agencies assure incident free Aboakyer Festival

Winneba(C/R), April 29, GNA – The Effutu Municipal Police Command has confirmed its readiness to ensure a peaceful and incident-free 2026 Aboakyer Festival of the Chiefs and people of Effutu which commenced on Saturday, April 25 to Sunday, May 3, 2026. 

ACP Ibrahim Opoku, Effutu Divisional Police Commander who gave the assurance in an interview with the Ghana News Agency, said adequate measures had been put in place to ensure the safety of citizens of Effutu Oma, as well as all visitors who would join the Chiefs and people to commemorate the Festival.  

He said several security personnel had been deployed across the municipality to manage and provide protection as well as maintain law and order throughout the festivities.  

The joint team, include Police, Immigration and the Fire Service who are to secure the area, particularly for the bushbuck hunting and the grand durbar on Saturday May 2. 

He said they are focusing on maintaining law and order during the competitive activities of the Tuafo Number One and Dentsefo Number Two Asafo companies. 

“We are tight monitoring to create an enabling environment for merry makers to celebrate the occasion without any hindrances.” 

He warned that it would ruthlessly deal with any individual or group of persons who would attempt to foment trouble during the period and consequently asked people harbouring such intentions to change because they would not be spared when arrested.  

“We are adequately on the ground to protect lives and property as well as to curb up any possible threats in terms of stealing, robbery and other forms of crimes, before, during and after the festivities,” 

ACP Opoku advised public to complement their role during the period to also be security conscious saying when they see or observe any unusual movements, they should quickly alert the police as their contributions for smooth celebration. 

He advised Pragyia and the motor racing drivers in the municipality to be circumspective because the place should be safe from accidents and other criminal activities. 

He further urged citizens of Effutu to remain vigilant, while key stakeholders of the festival worked tirelessly to sustain the Aboakyer to continue to be one of the well-known festivals in the country and globally.
