Adaklu Ablornu (V/R), April 7, GNA – Mr Jerry Yao Ameko, Adaklu District Chief Executive (DCE) has commended the people of Adaklu for wholeheartedly embracing the National Sanitation Day (NSD).

“I am elated and happy with your show of patriotism towards the Day, and I want to commend you for that,” he said.

Mr Ameko gave the commendation in an address he delivered at a grand durbar to climax the weeklong sixth Afordeza celebration of the chiefs and people of Adaklu Ablornu in the Adaklu district.

It was on the theme: “Empowering Educators, Enriching Communities: Building brighter futures.”

The DCE stated that he visited over 12 communities on Saturday, April 4, which was the National Sanitation Day and was so impressed with the enthusiasm with which the people worked.

He noted that if the trend continued, the district would be the cleanest in the Volta region if not the country.

Mr Ameko urged chiefs, opinion leaders, and Assembly members not to shield those who refused to participate in the exercise but rather report them to his office for punitive action to be taken against them.

He told the gathering that the exercise would not only make their communities clean but also minimise the spread of diseases such as malaria, cholera, and typhoid.

The first Saturday of every month is earmarked as National Sanitation Day across the country.
