JOHANNESBURG, April 27 (Xinhua/GNA) — Three people were shot dead inside a fast-food outlet, in the Johannesburg central business district on Monday morning, local media reported.
The shooting took place at a McDonald’s restaurant, at the corner of Jeppe and Small streets, where the three men were having breakfast, when two masked gunmen entered and opened fire, Independent Online (IOL) reported.
Local councilor Sthembiso Hlatshwayo said the victims, were believed to be business owners operating in the area.
Hlatshwayo called for urgent intervention from law enforcement agencies, saying violent crime had become a frequent occurrence in the area.
Police have opened a triple murder investigation, and launched a manhunt for the suspects.
