Tema, March 17, GNA — Ms Esther Kwofie, a teacher at the TMA Daycare Centre, has appealed for urgent psychological support for both teachers and pupils, following a terrifying aircraft crash incident on the school’s premises in Tema Community One.
Ms Kwofie said the incident occurred while some pupils were engaged in writing their homework while others were sleeping.
She told the Ghana News Agency that teachers were equally affected, struggling to ensure the safety of all pupils while managing their own fear and anxiety.
She recounted a particularly frightening moment when the roofing of a classroom close to the crash site was displaced, stating that “the roofing sheet moved and fell close to where one of the pupils was sleeping; thankfully, the child escaped unharmed.”
She said the narrow escape had left both staff and children traumatised, adding that most of the pupils were finding it difficult to speak when they got home because of the incident.
She thanked God for His continuous protection, especially for the lives of the young ones, and commended the residents for responding promptly to the incident and starting to fight the fire immediately before the firefighters arrived at the scene.
