Tema, March 20, GNA — Mr Ludwig Teye Totimeh,  the Tema West Municipal Chief Executive, has called on Muslims to uphold unity and brotherliness as they celebrate Eid.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) during a donation ceremony by the assembly to support the Muslim community, Mr Totimeh said the gesture was aimed at assisting beneficiaries to break their fast and celebrate the festival with ease.

He said the assembly had provided items including Milo, sugar, milk, and other foodstuffs, as well as rice and chicken, to support the celebration.

Mr Totimeh noted that the donation formed part of the assembly’s annual support to the Muslim community in recognition of their contributions to the development of the municipality.

“They have been part of our development in the municipality; therefore, the assembly will continue to support them so they can also remember us in their prayers as we serve the people,” he said.

He further urged both Muslims and Christians to live in harmony, to promote peace and national development.

Imam Abdullah Adams, who received the items on behalf of the Muslim community, expressed appreciation to the assembly for its continuous support over the years.

He described the gesture as timely, noting that it would help many Muslims to break their fast and share with others during the Eid celebration.

Imam Adams also appealed to Muslims to observe the festival peacefully and refrain from any form of misconduct that could undermine the essence of the fasting period.
