Takoradi (W/R), March 03, GNA – Mr Kwabena Okyere Darko-Mensah, the Member of Parliament (MP) for the Takoradi constituency, has spearheaded the construction of an ultra-modern medical laboratory for the Kokompe Clinic in Takoradi.

The move formed part of measures to help nurses at the facility to diagnose illnesses and sicknesses brought to the clinic for proper prescription of medicines and treatment of diseases in line with bringing health care delivery to the doorsteps of the people.

Speaking to Ghana News Agency in an interview, Mr Darko-Mensah, who is the immediate past Western Regional Minister, said “health is wealth” hence, every community must have access to affordable primary health care.

Mr Darko-Mensah advised residents of Kokompe to ensure that they lived in hygienic conditions to ward off ailments and infectious diseases.

He advised nurses at the facility to make use of the laboratory and render quality clinical services to patients who accessed health care at the clinic.

Mr Darko-Mensah observed that people in the area had to cover distances to access health care in neighbouring communities over the years which usually drained them.

The Takoradi MP hoped that the clinic would grow to be upgraded into a Polyclinic.
