Sunyani MCE lauds Muslims peaceful co-existence with other religious sects

Sunyani, (Bono), March 15, GNA-Mr Vincent Antwi Agyei, the Sunyani Municipal Chief Executive has commended the Muslims for their peaceful co-existence with other religious sects in the Municipality.  

He said the Sunyani Municipal Assembly appreciated the cooperation and invaluable contributions of the Muslims towards sustaining the prevailing peace of the Municipality.  

As the Muslims prepare to end the 2026 Ramadan, Mr Agyei cautioned the Muslim youth to celebrate the festive season in moderation and guard against waywardness and behaviours that could fetch them troubles.  

Mr Agyei gave the commendation in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on the sidelines of the commissioning of a mosque in Sunyani. 

Alhaji Issaka-Issa, a Muslim leader and the Bono Regional Treasurer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) renovated the Mosque situated at the Sunyani Night Market into a befitting standard, furnishing the facility with modern air-conditioners and ceiling fans.  

Mr Agyei cautioned the Muslim youth against acts of lawlessness and unacceptable behaviours like careless riding of motorbikes as they celebrate the seasons, urging them to channel their exuberances into productive activities.  

He observed that Zongo youth like others had huge potential and pledged the government’s dedication to help unearth and build those prospects for them to contribute meaningfully to accelerated national development.  

Earlier, Alhaji Issaka-Issa popularly known as “Allah Bei Kwaana” explained that he was moved by Allah to rehabilitate the mosque, saying that he also intended to rehabilitate the ‘Dagomba’ mosque at the Sunyani Zongo. 

He said the Quran enjoined Muslims to love, care and share with others, and urged Muslims to always identify and show compassion to the vulnerable in society.  

Imam Baaba Seidu Haidara, the Bono Regional Chief Imam expressed appreciation to thebenefactor, and pledged to maintain the facility, urging other wealthy Muslims to emulate.
