Ramadan: Dorcas Afo-Toffey advises Muslims to pray for peace in…

Tikobo No 1 (W/R), March 02, GNA- Madam Dorcas Afo-Toffey, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Jomoro  Constituency urged Muslims to pray for peace, love and unity in conflict areas around the globe particularly Iran and Dubai during the period of Ramadan.  

She noted that wars and conflicts in parts of the world threatened peace and security in other parts of the world.  

Madam Afo-Toffey, who doubles as the Deputy Minister of Transport, said this when she made donated assorted food beverages for the Muslim Community at Tikobo No 1 in  her constituency as they go through the Holy Month of Ramadan.  

The items include 100 boxes of tea bags,100 bags of sugar (50kg),100 packs of milk and 15 boxes of Milo.  

The MP also promised to donate bags of rice at the end of the Ramadan as well as 100 bags of cement following a demand made by the Muslims last year to complete some projects around their central mosque.  

Madam Afo-Toffey reminded the Muslim community that without peace in neighbouring countries and other parts of the globe, Ghana did not feel safe and asked them to intensify their prayers for the country.  

She thanked Muslims for the massive support during the 2024 general elections and assured them of the support of the ruling government of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).  

Mr Benedict Boadi, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the Jomoro Constituency commended the MP for her continued support to Muslims in Jomoro.  

He said the government held the Islamic faith in high esteem and would do well to support the Muslim community.  

Mr Emmanuel Benle, the Jomoro  NDC Constituency Secretary asked the Muslims to acknowledge the MP as she had never failed to appreciate them even before she became the MP.  

He entreated Muslims to remain steadfast and committed to Allah and go through the month of Ramadan with a renewed spirit.  

Sheikh Alhaji Seifu Jallo the, Municipal Chief Imam, who received the food beverages on behalf of the Muslim community, expressed gratitude to the MP for the recognition of the Ramadan on the Islamic calendar.  

Sheikh Seifu Jallo led the Imams present to pray for peace and progress for the nation and invoked Allah’s blessings on Madam Afo-Toffey.
