Minister urges faith-based organisations to support national development

Accra, March 15, GNA – Mrs Rita Akosua Adjei Awartei, Eastern Regional Minister, has urged faith-based organisations to remain active partners in national discourse and development efforts.

She said the strong moral influence and community presence of religious institutions positioned them as key partners in addressing social challenges and promoting responsible citizenship.

Mrs Adjei Awartei made the call at Akyem Adukrom in the Eastern Region during a ceremony where Dr Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, Political Advisor to the Vice President, donated musical instruments valued at about GH¢100,000 to the Akyem Adukrom Church of Pentecost.

The Minister said collaboration between the state and the church was essential for building disciplined communities and strengthening shared values that supported national development.

She noted that beyond spiritual guidance, churches also contributed significantly to community development and the nurturing of responsible citizens.

“The church plays a critical role in shaping society and strengthening moral values,” Mrs Adjei Awartei said.

“When the church and the state work together, we are able to build a more disciplined and responsible society that supports national development,” she added.

The items donated included a range of musical instruments and furniture to support worship activities and enhance the operations of the church.

Dr Ofosu Ampofo said the gesture was intended to support the church’s efforts to positively shape the lives of citizens and reinforce moral values in society.

Apostle Patrick Aseyoro, Suhum Area Head of the Church of Pentecost, received the items on behalf of the church and thanked Dr Ofosu Ampofo for the support.

He said the Church of Pentecost had over the years contributed to moral formation and offered emotional and spiritual support to communities.

Apostle Aseyoro also encouraged churches across the country to continue promoting discipline, integrity and social responsibility in society.

Members of the church, traditional leaders and residents of Akyem Adukrom commended the initiative and called for sustained collaboration between religious institutions and public leaders.
