Lebanese army says five soldiers wounded in Israeli strike

Beirut, March 17, (dpa/GNA) – Five Lebanese soldiers were wounded in an Israeli strike in southern Lebanon, the Lebanese army said on Tuesday, adding that two of them were seriously injured.

The soldiers were travelling in a car and on a motorcycle near the city of Nabatieh when they were hit, the army said in a statement.

Israel’s military said it was looking into the incident.

The Lebanese army is not an active party to the conflict between the Iranian-backed Hezbollah militia and Israel, and has largely maintained a neutral stance.

Local media reported that the soldiers were travelling in a civilian vehicle, and one was on a motorcycle. They were wearing military uniforms at the time of the strike.
