Ghana-Nungua (W/R), March 04, GNA – Madam Dorcas Afo-Toffey, Member of Parliament (MP) for Jomoro has constructed an ultra-modern Community Health Primary Services (CHPS) Compound for Ghana-Nungua, a predominantly cocoa-growing community near Elubo in the Jomoro constituency.
The CHPS Compound has a nurses’ quarters to accommodate nurses to provide a-24-hour healthcare services, a waiting room,check facility, examination room and admission room where referrals would be made.
For some time now the community had to contend with a structure they sought medical attention without facilities to cater for the health care needs of people in the area.
Speaking to journalists during a tour to inspect on-going projects in the constituency, Madam Afo-Toffey who doubles as the Deputy Minister of Transport, said the CHPS Compound would provide first aid services to patients in times of emergency before they were referred to seek attention at other medical facilities.
The MP said the move formed part of a broader plans to make health care delivery accessible to every community in the constituency.
She said the health of the people was their wealth, hence improving health care infrastructure was dear to her heart.
Madam Afo-Toffey said her outfit was expecting a list of medical equipment from the Municipal Director to be purchased to stock the CHPS Compound before commissioning and handing over to the Ghana Health Services.
She appealed to the people to patronise the facility and endeavour to take good care of it.
