Tehran, March 25, (dpa/GNA) – Tehran, on Wednesday warned the US against deploying ground troops in Iran, as reports say Washington is bringing more and more forces to the Gulf region.
“We are closely monitoring all US movements in the region, particularly troop deployments,” wrote Parliament Speaker Mohammed Bagher Ghalibaf on X. “Do not test our resolve to defend our country,” said Ghalibaf, a former general.
His comments come as media reports say the US government, ordered the deployment of thousands of soldiers from an airborne division to the Middle East. There have been rumours of a possible invasion of the Iranian island of Kharg, the most important export terminal for Iranian oil in the Gulf.
