Accra, March 2, GNA – Bibiani Gold Stars ended Hearts of Oak’s sixmatch unbeaten run on Sunday with a 2-1 home victory that moved the champions to within a point of Ghana Premier League (GPL) leaders Medeama SC.

Gold Stars, who have now won four straight league matches, struck first through Samuel Atta Kumi in the 15th minute before Hearts levelled via Henry Kwaku Boateng.

Augustine Boakye scored the winner late in the second half to lift the Miners to 45 points, one behind Medeama. Hearts remain third with 40 points.

Medeama’s advantage at the top narrowed after they were held to a goalless draw by Swedru All Blacks at the Swedru Sports Stadium.

The result leaves the Tarkwa side on 46 points, with Gold Stars now applying pressure in the title race.

At the Baba Yara Stadium, Asante Kotoko were frustrated by Vision FC in a 0-0 draw despite the visitors playing the final 21 minutes with ten men following Mohammed Awudu’s dismissal.

Kotoko stays fourth on the league log, seven points off the summit.

Dreams FC boosted their survival push with a 1-0 home win over Aduana FC at Tuba, courtesy of captain John Antwi’s 67thminute strike.

Hohoe United also improved their survival prospects with a narrow 1-0 win over FC Samartex 1996, secured by Kekeli Attor early in the second half.

Basake Holy Stars extended their strong home form with a win over Heart of Lions, who were reduced to ten men in the first half.

Prince Tweneboah’s goal sealed backtoback home victories and eased Holy Stars further from the relegation zone.

At Golden City Park, Berekum Chelsea snatched a late 1-1 draw against Young Apostles. Richmond Opoku put the visitors ahead, but Benjamin Abaidoo equalised deep into stoppage time.

In Bechem, United and Karela United played out a cagey 0-0 draw. The Hunters finished with ten men after Rasco Abassah London’s late red card, but Karela could not take advantage.
