Sefwi- Akontombra (WN/R), March 27, GNA – Mr Alex Djornobuah Tetteh, a former Member of Parliament (MP) for Sefwi Akontombra, has called on the Office of the Special Prosecutor Office (OSP) to investigate all contracts awarded under the Big Push programme through sole sourcing.
In a press statement, he alleged that the programme had become a scheme to loot state resources, enrich politicians, and rob the taxpayers in broad daylight.
He said: “Many of these contracts have been mischievously awarded through sole sourcing, with contract sums so outrageously inflated that no serious government committed to transparency and value for money should ever defend them.
“A clear example is what is happening in the Sefwi Akontombra District, specifically the 30 kilometres stretch of the Enchi-Kodjour-Pakyi road, where the cost has been fixed at a staggering $1,252,779.68 per km using the current exchange rate of GHC11.70 per a dollar.”
Mr Tetteh said at a time when the government claimed the country was experiencing lower inflation and a more stable exchange rate, there was no justification to award contracts on such prices.
He raised concerns over the possibility of sole sourcing, noting that any breach of procurement laws could render the Big Push contracts invalid.
The former MP , therefore, called on the OSP to conduct thorough investigations to ensure accountability and protect public funds.
