Accra, March 30, GNA – The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) on Monday held a colourful farewell parade and pulling-out ceremony at Burma Camp in honour of the retired Forces Sergeant Major, Chief Warrant Officer (CWO) Addo Daniel, after more than three decades of distinguished military service.
The ceremony, steeped in military tradition, also marked the formal handover to the incoming Forces Sergeant Major, Master Warrant Officer Zakaria Alhassan.
Colonel Danso Ankrah, the Director of Human Resource, said the gathering was not only to mark the end of a career but to honour a life wholly dedicated to service, discipline and leadership.
He described CWO Addo Daniel as a “soldier’s soldier” who served as a vital bridge between the officer corps and the other ranks, noting that his counsel and steadiness had contributed significantly to shaping effective military leadership.
“His legacy is not retiring with him. It remains etched in every soldier he mentored and every non-commissioned officer he groomed,” Col. Ankrah said.
He commended the outgoing Forces Sergeant Major for setting high standards of discipline and professionalism within the ranks, adding that his contributions during national parades, military engagements and training programmes would be long remembered.

He expressed appreciation to the family of the retiring officer, particularly his wife and children, for their sacrifices and unwavering support throughout his service.
In his farewell address, CWO Addo Daniel expressed gratitude to the Military High Command and personnel of the Ghana Armed Forces for their support during his tenure.
He said the Armed Forces had witnessed significant improvements in discipline and professionalism, citing the selection of the GAF by the Rwanda Defence Force for understudy of its Non-Commissioned Officers Corps as a testament to those gains.
“The successes chalked are a reflection of our collective spirit and teamwork,” CWO Addo Daniel stated, urging personnel to extend even greater support to his successor.

Reflecting on his career, he noted that “every beginning had an end,” adding that it was time for him to bow out after years of meritorious service with an unblemished record.
He expressed appreciation to past and present Chiefs of Defence Staff, including Vice Admiral Seth Amoama (Rtd), General Thomas Oppong-Peprah (Rtd), and Lieutenant General William Agyapong, the current CDS, for their guidance and trust during his tenure.
CWO Addo Daniel expressed gratitude to officers, soldiers and civilian staff who supported him, wishing the incoming Forces Sergeant Major success in his new role.
The ceremony featured military drills, honours and the symbolic pulling-out parade, marking the end of his active service and celebrating his contributions to the Ghana Armed Forces.
