Drobo, (Bono), March 04, GNA – The people of Drobo, the capital of the Jaman South Municipality of the Bono Region are in a sombre mood following a tragic road crash that happened at Potrikrom on the Bechem-Kumasi Highway.
The Ghana News Agency (GNA) gathered that the crash happened between 1400hours and 1500 hours when an ambulance with Registration Number GV527-23 collided head-on with a Ford Transit bus with registration number GT6576-19.
Madam Siata Watara, the Jaman South Municipal Chief Executive, confirmed that all the 15 occupants of the Ford Transit bus who were traveling from Kumasi to Drobo perished in the crash.
She said that the Drobo St Mary’s Hospital Ambulance was also referring a patient (girl) from Drobo to the Kumasi Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.
She said that five people including the driver were in the Ambulance.
They comprised a nurse, the patient, her mother and grandmother, she stated, saying that unfortunately the grandmother also died in the crash, with the four others in critical condition now.
She expressed her deepest condolences and that of the government to the bereaved families, saying that the Municipal Assembly had since held a meeting with the hospital authorities.

Madam Watara described the crash as calamitous, saying that checks revealed that all the victims were natives of the area, with the farming communities of Koo-Nsia, Atuna, Kwampim and Droboyem, being the worst affected.
Meanwhile, the news about the horrible crash had since spread like wildlife, as it remained the topical issue in the Drobo township.
Some of the residents told the GNA that they were shocked and baffled, yet to understand the mystery surrounding the crash.
“Isn’t the crash surprising? What baffles us is that the two vehicles are all from Drobo”, Alfred Ansu, a teacher, told the GNA.
